Pears in wine

What will I wear today? A daily common question… a look at the wardrobe and I will go for same color but different tones or I will pair contrasted colors. Today, I am going for black and red because I feel like it and because it suits my face and hair.

Pears and Wine

What will I cook today? Another common and daily question… Well, it seems that black and red rule my day today!!! I choose this simple dessert because it suits my craving for a healthy dessert: Pears in wine, a quick, sweet and delicious treat!

As I told you in my previous food post, there’s this great Tarantas Contest going on guys and I will be one of the judges; you only have to pair a bottle of Tarantas wines with a dish you cook, post it in their website and cross your fingers to be the lucky one that wins and gets a trip to Spain!!!! How cool is that? Come on! Time is running!!! Submit your recipes here.

Pears in Wine

So, what are you waiting for? Valencia is waiting for you… the city of the Arts and Science, the birthplace of Paella! I encourage you all to participate: readers, foodies, friends… all of you are so welcome :-)

Recipe

Ingredients for 4 servings: 4 seasonal pears, 1 bottle of Tempranillo Red Tarantas wine, 2 white sugar tablespoons, 2 cinnamon sticks, 6 spice cloves and 3 black pepper tinny balls. You can optionally sprinkle with some crunched pistachios or walnuts when the dish is finished and served.

  • Peel the pears and place inside a deep pot with the rest of ingredients.
  • Cook at medium/low heat for 20 to 30 minutes or until you feel the pears are fully cooked.
  • While cooking, keep on turning the pears so that they get fully cooked.
  • Serve and eat either warm or cold.
  • Enjoy!
